A number of different products are available to help prevent your pet from getting heartworm disease. Many of these products also effectively treat other parasites. Heartgard Plus is a product for dogs and cats that has been on the market for many years. It is a chewable monthly preventative medication that also controls hookworms and roundworms.

Interceptor is a long standing oral canine and feline heartworm preventative that is given once monthly. It also controls intestinal infestations with roundworm, hookworms and whipworms.

Sentinel is a combination of an effective heartworm preventative product – Interceptor and Program which helps control fleas. The product is a monthly oral treatment that has the same attributes as Interceptor with an added effect on fleas.

Revolution is an effective topical product for cats and dogs that is applied monthly. Besides taking care of heartworms, Revolution also takes care of certain ticks and fleas, as well as ear mites and other internal parasites of the cat.

Advantage Multi is the newest monthly topical product for heartworm prevention on the market. It combines a potent fleas treatment – Advantage and a heartworm preventative medication for dogs and cats. It also helps control roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms, plus ear mites in the cat.
